Straight Micro-Drawknife  add to cart
Small picture of draw knife, hand forged wood working tool by North Bay Forge. A fine wood carving tool for removing wood quickly.
Great for furniture carving, carving musical instruments (necks of guitars), boat spars, wood carving with a shaving horse. The compact design allows access to tight areas with terrific control. With both hands so
close to the blade, these offer the most control and power possible. The forged handles are cupped to contour
to the hands with small forged finger hooks on the ends to ensure positive grips. Because the blade is only
1.5 inches long, this is not a tool to use on pieces of wood wider than about 3 inches.
DK-1   1.5" blade   9" overall   $46

Great for furniture carving, carving musical instruments (necks of guitars), boat spars, wood carving with a shaving horse. The blade is bent to about a 2 inch diameter curve. This tool is primarily intended for hollowing out,
but can also be used for chamfering. The compact design allows access to tight areas with terrific control. With both hands so

to the hands with small forged finger hooks on the ends to ensure positive grips. Because the blade is only

These have the same fine bevel (10 to 12 degrees) and micro bevel as my other tools.
They are unequalled in their ability to remove wood and are surprisingly good finishing tools because unlike their cousins,
the spokeshaves, you can see exactly what wood you are removing. (The body of a spokeshave hides wood from view right where
it is being cut.) Drawknives do require two hands so the wood must be clamped or otherwise held down. All of my drawknives are
also balanced, meaning the handles are carefully aligned to be in the same plane as the blade's bevel so that the cutting edge
follows the hands through the cut.
